#DEPORTES | El futbolista mexicano José Juan Macías ha decidido retirarse del futbol profesional a los 25 años, según informó Fox Sports el 11 de febrero de 2025. Las constantes lesiones que han afectado su carrera fueron determinantes en esta decisión.
Macías inició su carrera en las fuerzas básicas del Club Deportivo Guadalajara en 2011. Debutó profesionalmente en 2017 bajo la dirección de Matías Almeyda.
Durante su préstamo con el Club León en 2019, destacó al anotar 16 goles en dos torneos, consolidándose como uno de los delanteros mexicanos más prometedores.
Su desempeño le permitió regresar a Chivas en 2020 y posteriormente emigrar al Getafe de España en 2021. Sin embargo, su paso por Europa fue breve, acumulando menos de 200 minutos en LaLiga antes de regresar a México.
A partir de 2022, Macías sufrió dos roturas del ligamento cruzado anterior mientras militaba en Chivas, lo que lo mantuvo alejado de las canchas por periodos prolongados. En 2024, se unió a Santos Laguna, pero las lesiones continuaron limitando su participación, permitiéndole disputar solo cinco partidos y anotar un gol el 20 de enero de 2025 contra Pachuca.
El 11 de febrero de 2025, Santos Laguna anunció la rescisión anticipada del contrato de Macías debido a sus constantes problemas físicos. Ese mismo día, Fox Sports confirmó que el delantero decidió retirarse del fútbol profesional, agotado física y mentalmente por las lesiones que marcaron su carrera.
