#INTERNACIONAL | El presidente de la FIFA, Gianni Infantino, fijó el 19 de septiembre como fecha límite para que las 211 federaciones afiliadas definan si respaldan el proyecto que plantea la entrada de inversión privada en los derechos comerciales de la Copa del Mundo, una iniciativa que ha provocado el rechazo de organismos como la UEFA, la Concacaf y la Asociación Europea de Clubes (ECA).
La propuesta contempla la creación de FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE), una empresa que concentraría la explotación comercial de torneos como la Copa del Mundo y el Mundial de Clubes. Posteriormente, la FIFA vendería una participación minoritaria a inversionistas encabezados por el empresario estadounidense Jared Kushner, yerno del presidente de Estados Unidos, Donald Trump.
Infantino envió una carta a las federaciones nacionales en la que solicita pronunciarse antes del plazo establecido, con el objetivo de avanzar en la aprobación del proyecto durante el Congreso extraordinario del organismo.
No obstante, la iniciativa ha encontrado una fuerte oposición. La UEFA, la Concacaf y la ECA cuestionaron la falta de transparencia en el proceso y advirtieron que una decisión de esta magnitud debe ser discutida ampliamente con confederaciones, ligas, clubes y jugadores antes de someterse a votación.
La FIFA sostiene que el esquema permitirá generar mayores ingresos para destinarlos al desarrollo del futbol en todo el mundo. Sin embargo, sus detractores consideran que la incorporación de capital privado podría comprometer el control de los activos comerciales más importantes del organismo y modificar el modelo de gobernanza del balompié internacional.
