#PUEBLA | La reciente imposiciĂłn de un arancel del 25 por ciento sobre todos los vehĂculos terminados que MĂ©xico exporte hacia Estados Unidos, afectará a 129 empresas del sector automotriz en el estado de Puebla, con un aumento en los costos de producciĂłn. Esto podrĂa elevar el precio de los autos hasta en 12 mil dĂłlares, lo que generará una caĂda en la demanda de modelos populares fabricados en la entidad como el Jetta, Taos, Tiguan y Q5.
Para contrarrestar este impacto, el director de la facultad de EconomĂa en la BUAP, Juan Alberto Vázquez Muñoz, sugiriĂł que una estrategia clave serĂa fortalecer el peso mexicano frente al dĂłlar estadounidense, pues esto ayudarĂa para que los costos no se eleven tanto para el consumidor final.
De acuerdo con cifras del Instituto Nacional de EstadĂstica y GeografĂa (INEGI), 127 compañĂas impactadas se dedican a la producciĂłn de autopartes, como Benteler, Faurecia, Fujikura, Gestamp y Kautex, por mencionar algunas.
Las otras dos restantes son Volkswagen de MĂ©xico y Audi MĂ©xico, que son las armadoras de vehĂculos en la entidad que fabrican el Jetta, Taos, Tiguan y Q5, principalmente para el mercado de Estados Unidos.
De acuerdo con Carlos Julián Sosa SpĂnola, presidente local de la Cámara Nacional de la Industria de la TransformaciĂłn (Canacintra), un arancel del 25 por ciento hará que al medio plazo, es decir, dentro de cuatro meses, los costos de los vehĂculos suban entre 3 mil y 12 mil dĂłlares, dependiendo del modelo y las especificaciones del automĂłvil, pues para las compañĂas resultará más caro la manufactura de una unidad.
«Este ajuste podrĂa ser lo suficientemente alto como para que los consumidores estadounidenses consideren opciones más baratas, reduciendo las ventas de autos fabricados en MĂ©xico y Puebla», explicĂł.
Para Ă©l, el alza de precios podrĂa obligar a las armadoras a tomar decisiones difĂciles sobre sus operaciones, como lo es reducir de manera importante la producciĂłn en las plantas, lo que se traduce en una disminuciĂłn de la fuerza laboral y en la economĂa local.
«Las plantas de Volkswagen y Audi, al ser grandes generadoras de empleo, tienen un impacto significativo en la regiĂłn, por lo que cualquier recorte en la producciĂłn podrĂa traducirse en una pĂ©rdida de puestos de trabajo y en un impacto econĂłmico para las comunidades cercanas», aseverĂł.
Ante la incertidumbre provocada por la imposiciĂłn del arancel, Juan Alberto Vázquez Muñoz, director de la facultad de EconomĂa en la BenemĂ©rita Universidad AutĂłnoma de Puebla (BUAP), sugiriĂł que una de las estrategias clave para mitigar los efectos negativos sobre la industria automotriz serĂa fortalecer el tipo de cambio del peso frente al dĂłlar estadounidense.
Es decir, el fortalecimiento del peso podrĂa ser crucial para amortiguar el aumento de los costos de exportaciĂłn derivados del arancel, pues si el peso se fortalece, no se tendrĂan que subir tanto el precio final de los autos que se exportan.
«Esto se debe a que, al reducirse el costo de los insumos y componentes importados —los cuales están cotizados en dĂłlares—, las empresas del sector podrĂan hacer frente a los aranceles sin trasladar el costo adicional de manera significativa a los consumidores», aseverĂł.
El especialista explicĂł que, de no tomarse medidas al respecto, las empresas mexicanas y poblanas tendrĂan que absorber los costos adicionales generados por el arancel y se verĂa afectada aĂşn más su competitividad en el mercado estadounidense.
“El fortalecimiento de la moneda mexicana no solo aliviarĂa a las empresas al reducir sus costos de importaciĂłn, sino que tambiĂ©n evitarĂa un mayor incremento en los precios de los vehĂculos, lo que podrĂa tener un impacto aĂşn más negativo en la demanda de autos mexicanos en Estados Unidos”, finalizĂł.
