#INTERNACIONAL | Las autoridades de Estados Unidos anunciaron ayer jueves la imposición de sanciones contra el fiscal jefe del Tribunal Penal Internacional (TPI), Karim Khan, en respuesta a la orden firmada a principios de febrero por el inquilino de la Casa Blanca, Donald Trump, en represalia por la orden de detención emitida por el organismo contra el primer ministro israelí, Benjamin Netanyahu, así como contra su anterior ministro de Defensa, Yoav Gallant.
El Departamento del Tesoro estadounidense ha indicado en su página web que «ha actualizado su lista de nacionales especialmente designados y personas bloqueadas» a la que ha añadido a este fiscal de nacionalidad británica.
Las sanciones incluyen el bloqueo de bienes y activos, así como la suspensión de entrada en Estados Unidos a altos cargos y trabajadores del TPI, incluyendo también a sus familiares inmediatos.
Las sanciones, concretamente, se impondrán a todo aquel que haya participado en «cualquier esfuerzo del TPI para investigar, detener, retener o procesar a una persona protegida sin el consentimiento del país de nacionalidad de esa persona», reza la orden.
Trump firmó el pasado 06 de febrero una orden ejecutiva para imponer sanciones a altos cargos y trabajadores del TPI alegando que las órdenes contra Netanyahu y Gallant eran «infundadas» y acusando al tribunal de «infringir la soberanía» del país y «socavar la labor crítica del Gobierno de Estados Unidos», así como de sus «aliados, incluido Israel, en materia de seguridad nacional y política exterior».
