La coordinadora nacional de Protección Civil, Laura Velázquez Alzúa, informó que a partir de la recomendación del Comité Científico Asesor tras analizar la actividad y los diversos parámetros, en los cuales hay algunos decrementos, se decidió regresar al semáforo de alerta volcánica Amarillo Fase 2.
«Con base en el análisis y diagnóstico de la actividad general reciente y los escenarios esperados en el corto plazo, recomienda cambiar el Semáforo de Alerta Volcánica de amarillo fase 3 a amarillo fase 2», señaló el Comité Científico Asesor en su reunión extraordinaria del lunes 5 de junio.
Científicos del comité y del Centro Nacional de Prevención de Desastres (Cenapred) mantendrán el monitoreo permanente del volcán Popocatépetl y seguimiento para determinar las acciones necesarias.
